I get asked all the time: "When is it the best time for me to hit the gym?!"
My reply is always: "Whenever it is most convenient for you." There's no magic time of the day, it really is all about understanding your schedule and flexibility. Not everyone is an early riser, or a night owl. Although I do have to say the best times to go are usually early morning, or late evening when it's less crowded.
Everyone has a different schedule, levels of flexibility as well as energy. According to this article on the best times to workout - conveniency and personal preference will most likely get you into the gym, even on the days when you don't feel like it.
1. Early riser? Loves to get things out of the way in the morning so you have time in the afternoon to relax and enjoy the things you like? Hit the gym in the morning!
2. Late night owl? Can't seem to fall asleep before midnight? Stay up watching Netflix? Hit the gym in the evening! You'll be exhausted when you get home and will hopefully fall asleep before midnight.
3. Always busy and have little flexibility? Unfortunately there's no right answer for this one, it all boils down to how flexible you are, and how much of a priority fitness is to you. Being able to squeeze in 30 mins - 1 hour is a battle won versus not working out at all.
If you go to the gym at a time that is most convenient for you, you won't feel rushed or feel that you're wasting time getting a workout in. It's very important that you set aside the time to shift away from your busy life. It will help with mentally and will motivate you to come back the next day.
